Four branches

Where you could fit

01

Editing

Editors handle paper selection, editing and publication. In the fall they draft and edit articles for The Pioneer, help prepare the Capital of Texas Undergraduate Research Conference, and reach out to departments and professors about submitting. Spring is for the manuscripts: editors screen submissions, contact faculty in the relevant department for review, and work with authors through rounds of revision before the communications team lays out the volume.

02

Campaigns

The campaigns team coordinates events throughout the year, securing times, locations, food and logistics. In the fall that has centered on the Capital of Texas Undergraduate Research Conference, an interdisciplinary statewide symposium. In the spring it has meant research panels and networking events that connect undergraduates with faculty and graduate mentors, plus tabling to keep the journal visible on campus.

03

Communications

Communications designs advertisements for events, keeps social media and the website current, and refines the journal’s visual identity in the fall before laying out the volume in the spring. The team coordinates with campaigns so flyers are printed and distributed in time.

04

Financial

The financial team tracks and plans spending, seeks funding opportunities through UT, and proposes new ways to raise money. They work with every branch to allocate funds for events, publicity materials and essential software, so the journal can keep serving UT students as a voice for research.
